While many would assume that the announcement would lead to a lot of significant excitement online, it seems a number of outraged PlayStation 4 owners are upset because the three-year-old exclusive game has opened up to a whole new platform of players. This has led to a sizable amount of petty tweets directed at Guerilla Games, with a small subset of fans seemingly outraged because Horizon will no longer be just theirs to play.

The tweets range from straight-up anger to some level-headed responses about what this could mean for the PlayStation 4 library going forward, however, it seems the former outnumber the latter when it comes to the replies on the original announcement on Twitter. One user calls Sony a “disgrace” for making the fairly inclusive decision, while a second threatens to sue PlayStation for including an “only on PlayStation” seal on the Horizon box. A third even claims the port has destroyed 25 years of PlayStation, which is a bit overdramatic.
As is fairly evident from the ludicrous nature of the replies, Horizon’s port to the PC has clearly been blown pretty far out of proportion. While there’s no doubt an interesting debate to be had in whether bringing titles like Zero Dawn to PC enhances the allure of the PlayStation’s competition, it should also be remembered that the title is a three-year-old game that will no doubt mean a lot to a whole subsection of players who never got to experience it. If anything, this is merely a strong advertisement for the excellent lineup of exclusives currently available on the PlayStation 4 brand.
It’s also worth remembering that it’s good that big console providers like Sony are becoming more player-friendly in 2020. No doubt it’s nice to be able to play an exclusive that no one else is on any other console, but as the medium evolves, it only becomes more important for excellent titles like Horizon Zero Dawn to be experienced by as many people as possible on a large variety of platforms. Regardless, it’s great to see a monumental number of fans will be able to get their hands on Horizon Zero Dawn for the first time when it hits PC later this year.
Horizon Zero Dawn will make its way to PC in summer 2020.
