The good news? Police say they have arrested the man responsible and recovered the bat. Below is the official release from the Seattle Police Department:
The bad news? It’s not exactly easy to re-attach a bat onto a statue. There haven’t been any statements made by Safeco officials or the Mariners on the next steps regarding the statue, but it likely won’t a simple solution.
Officers returned the bat to Safeco security personnel. The suspect was later booked into the King County Jail for investigation of malicious mischief, a felony. Detectives will handle the follow up investigation.
