Nov. 13, 2000:Two U.S. F-16 fighter planes collide over the Sea of Japan. One pilot ejects safely, the other was never found. Dec. 11, 2000:MV-22 Osprey (again) crashes near Jacksonville, North Carolina. Four Marines dead. Feb. 3, 2001:Harrier jet crashes just off the runway at Cherry Point, North Carolina. Two marines killed. Feb. 9, 2001:USS Greenville rams Japanese trawler Ehime Maru. Nine Japanese fishermen are never found. Feb. 12, 2001:Two UH-60 helicopters collide at a Hawaiian training ground. Six killed, seven injured. March 12, 2001:U.S. Navy F/A Hornet jet drops three 500-pound bombs on a group of military observers in Kuwait. Six dead civilians.
