Fans of Sonic Adventure 2 can even get their hands on the iconic SOAP Shoes from the beloved title to wear around in Sonic Frontiers. Here’s a look at how players can secure their own SOAP shoes.
How To Unlock SOAP Shoes In Sonic Frontiers
Those that want to relive the nostalgic feelings of Sonic Adventure 2 should be sure to unlock the SOAP Shoes. Thankfully, these kicks can be snagged for free and don’t require players to order a special edition of the game or secure a pre-order. Instead, players simply need to sign up for access to the Sonic Frontiers Newsletter by clicking on the appropriate button at the top right of the game’s main webpage. Players can access the page quickly by clicking this link. Once the “Newsletter” button is clicked, a small popup frame will appear and ask players to input some information.
Players should be sure to enter their correct email as they will receive the code automatically once the game has launched. It’s also important to choose the correct platform. Players need to pick the platform that they purchased the game on (or plan to purchase it on) when signing up for the newsletter, or their code may not work correctly. In order to sign up fully, players will also need to provide their birthdate, country of residence, and click both of the checkmarks at the bottom to acknowledge they have read the privacy policy and opt in for news concerning the game.
Once players have successfully filled out and submitted the form, they will be sent a confirmation email. To complete the necessary steps and get access to the SOAP Shoes code for Sonic Frontiers, players need to locate the confirmation email in their appropriate email service, open it, and click the corresponding link.
What Are Soap Shoes In Sonic Frontiers?
Although they’re called Soap Shoes, they don’t actually have any connection to cleaning products. Soap was actually a brand of shoes that was released in 1997. The unique footwear was designed to be as “normal and comfortable” as traditional sneakers (the actual prototype was a Nike) while also offering a set of plastic liners fitted around the outside of the shoe. These plastic bits would allow the wearer to slide down rails or “grind” on them much like a skateboarder or rollerblader.
Anyone who played Sonic Adventure 2 knows how prominent grinding is throughout the adventure, with both Sonic and Shadow having the ability to slide effortlessly along rails. It’s very likely that this concept was designed after developers discovered Soap shoes while on a trip to San Francisco (for game inspiration) as the products were being launched around the same time that Sonic Adventure 2 was in development.
This actually led to a sponsorship of sorts by Soap shoes, as the iconic footwear was added to Sonic Adventure 2, and a stylized version was given to the Hedgehog himself in-game. During this time, Soap shoes were being sold by a newly created company called Artemis Innovations. Unfortunately, over the years, due to some legal issues and bankruptcies, the brand would fade into relative obscurity. Today, it is considered a subsidiary of the popular Heelys company.
