Sonic Origins is a compilation of the original Sonic the Hedgehog game, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Sonic and Knuckles, and Sonic the Hedgehog CD. The box art for the game was leaked on Twitter earlier today.

In the box art for Sonic Origins, fans can see the main trio of heroes, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, with Metal Sonic, Amy, and Eggman, also known as Dr. Robotnik, behind them. The logo for Sonic Origins is shown on the left side of the image, next to the characters.
Sonic Origins was announced on May 27, 2021 during Sonic Central, a 12-minute video that showed off many upcoming titles for the franchise, as well as collaborations with other games, merch, and news about Sonic the Hedgehog games that had already released. Sonic Origins received a teaser trailer that showed off the five retro games, making some fans very excited to play them again. Since the initial announcement, however, there hasn’t been news about the compilation, so fans that have been looking forward to it have been excited to see the leaked box art.
While the teaser trailer didn’t specify which consoles Sonic Origins would be available on, it did say that the compilation would come out “on the latest platforms” and that content that wasn’t in the original versions of the game would also be added.
Besides Sonic Origins, fans have a lot of other titles to look forward to in 2022. A sequel for the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 film, as well as a spin-off series focusing on Knuckles, have recently been announced. A Netflix series that isn’t connected to the live-actions installments, Sonic Prime, is coming out this year, along with Sonic Frontiers, an open-world platformer that will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, and is expected to release at the end of 2022. Fans will hopefully enjoy all of these new titles as much as the games that made the franchise popular in the first place when they revisit them in Sonic Origins, or play them for the first time.
Sonic Origins is coming out later this year.
