For those who are unaware, YTV is essentially an app by YouTube that allows people to watch live TV shows through their console. This has been a long time coming for PlayStation 5 owners, particularly as both the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S have been able to use the app since they were launched last year.

YouTube TV is also available for the PS4, and has been for some time now. This is likely to be good news for those who want to subscribe but have yet to get hold of a new-gen console due to shortages which could last until the middle of next year. However, as it’s a subscription service, it’s worth pointing out that there is a price to pay. Those who wish to get download and use YouTube TV for their PS5 will need to pay $64.99 per month.

The PS5 getting the subscription-based app comes at an arguably interesting time. Just recently, Roku, which earlier this year recorded more than 51 million active accounts on its streaming device, had YouTube TV pulled by Google over allegations about anticompetitive behavior.
